Allegiance sponsors water stop at the 8th Annual Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon
Allegiance credit union once again was honored to sponsor a water stop for the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon. Over 70 credit union employees and members volunteered their time Sunday to be a part of this annual event that holds a special place their hearts. 168 banners lined the marathon course, one for each victim of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. Oklahoma City Memorial Executive Director, Kari F. Watkins, stated “There is a special relationship between our organizations. We are proud to tell the story of Federal Employees Credit Union (now Allegiance Credit Union), the dear friends you lost and the heroes that played such an important part in the days following the bombing.” The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon is a race that is not about running—it is about life.

Well I remember the first year that you hosted a water stop! I was so excited! As the Volunteer Chairman (and a member of Allegiance CU) that year it was an honor to get to know your group. Now as I move to my 9th year with the OKC Memorial Marathon.. I think back at all the lives we have been able to touch. I think about all the people who have volunteered, run and left Oklahoma a changed person.
For two years I had to get on a plane hours after the race concluded... and wearing my chairman gear it was incredible to hear what the runners had to say... WE do make a difference no matter what part we play in the event. We are spreading the word of survival and remembrance.
Keep up the incredible work Allegiance... I know that as a Chairman for the OKC Memorial Marathon & having worked with memorial staff... we truly appreciate your partnership!

I have worked the waterstop now for several years. It is fun and gives me pride to support the memorial. Thank you Allegiance for hosting the stop!
