Saving money doesn’t have to be difficult, and a little can turn into a lot over time! Here are 7 easy ways to help you save $1000 in 2008!

1. Set up a small automatic transfer out of each paycheck to go into an emergency savings account so that you don’t miss the money to begin with!

2. Instead of eating lunch in restaurants brown bag your lunch as often as you can. We’ve even created a Brown Bag Calculator to help you determine how much you could save by bringing your lunch once, twice or even five times a week!

3. Look for discounted dinner coupons. If you receive a “half off your entree” special or similar promotion a couple of times a month, and each discount is worth $5, the savings will top $120 after a year.

4. Look for grocery savings coupons! If you’re able to save just $4 off of your bill during each weekly shopping trip, total savings would be more than $200 a year.

5. Check out books, and movies from the library rather than renting a movie, our buying the new book you’ve wanted to read.

6. Return unopened, unused items. Many times, extra money may be hiding in your closet!
